Maitland-Smith wall sconce
Paul Maitland-Smith, a London antique dealer, founded Maitland-Smith in 1979 in Hong Kong to manufacture 18th century furniture reproductions. Maitland-Smith's history can be traced back to Paul's father and grandfather, who were also cabinetmakers and antiques dealers. In the 1950s, Paul was known in London for selling well-made reproductions. He later moved to Hong Kong to start his own reproduction business, sourcing from Hong Kong, China, and Thailand. In 1981, he built the company's first manufacturing operation in the Philippines.
This piece does have the original concept plug, but it will need to be rewired. Overall there are a good amount of chips and scratches. In optimal condition this sconce would be on the market for almost $1,000. It is 21” tall and very heavy.
